Teacher Raleigh, North Carolina 1843, merchant Lowell, MA 1845-1850, miner and photography artist, Marysville, California 1862-1863. In 1864 Artie Ella fell from a precipice in Waterville and was killed instantly. He is in 1860 Census of Marysville, CA occ. 'daguerre artist'.
