Abel's occ. 'blacksmith'. He was Principal of Anson Academy. Abel's birthplace in 1860 Census of Dixmont, ME is NH - occ. 'blacksmith'. He died at the home of his son J. S. Getchell in Machias according to a newspaper account in 28 Mar 1862 Eastport Sentinel.
