- Son James Swift Ellis had daughter Caroline born in Cincinnati, Ohio. Had son William bpt. 13-Oct-1816 Sandwich. Is he the Russell that was 'Saved from drowning when the steam packet New England sank. It left Boston for Bath & Gardiner and had an accident with the schooner Curlew on 31 May 1838'. In 1850 census of Waterville.occ. 'carrage tin'. He is alone in 1860 census of San Francisco occ. 'carriage maker'. He was in Waterville in 1840.
